Here's an inside look on the inspiration behind Modern Maven.

She's here-- welcome to the blog! I have been sitting on the idea of starting a blog since 2017 when I was Miss Arizona. I was overwhelmingly busy with school and events and it didn't seem like there was enough time in my schedule for writing. To be fair, I think I also fell out of love with writing for a short while for a number of reasons, which I will explain in a post one day. However, today, I'm happy to say that, that season of unmotivated writing is over!

Well, fast forward to 2020 and I decided to be serious about launching a blog. Why? I'll be honest... Not a lot has changed with time, I'm a busy woman juggling home life, a professional career and graduate studies. Yet, I'm no longer letting time be an excuse, because I don't want to look back and say I should have made the time, I should have written down those stories, memories, lessons, documented the things that sparked happiness, or connected with people, something this social butterfly loves to do. Let me be clear... I understand that there are a lot of bloggers and influencers out there. I'm inspired by them and I follow them, but this blog isn't trying to replicate what they're doing or what they stand for. It's here to be a conversation starter, a good read or something we can relate over.

I started thinking about the concept of this blog since early January of this year. I knew from the start that I wanted this blog to be lifestyle oriented because there are a variety of things I wanted to share from military life to beauty and fashion. You could say I like to be well-rounded. It's June now, yes, six months into 2020. So what the h*ll took so long? The simple answer: life. Life brings about unexpected surprises, new challenges and new beginnings. Hello, COVID-19 pandemic. I rolled with the punches and here we are today, happy, healthy, and ready to tackle a passion project or two.

In short, that's how Modern Maven came to be.

Psssst... What's up with the name?

Modern (adj.) -- No fear of going against the grain; relevant. Maven (n.) -- Experienced; one who understands well.

Modern Maven isn't defined by materialism, it's about being fearless in life, sharing stories, ideas and finds. It seems like a rather simple concept, but the sheer effort to be willing to personally and passionately share is what makes this blog a place of inclusivity and happiness. I want to open up and connect with you on a real level; inspiration is not one-sided.

With that, I'm ecstatic to be able to have this platform to talk about simple things like my favorite makeup of the moment to more personal topics like moving to a new city, configuring a career, deciding to go back to school in my twenties, and so much more.

You bored yet? I hope not because I'm just getting started...

Who Even Is She?

Oh, little ol' me? If this is your first time connecting with me, thanks for being here! The gal behind Modern Maven-- my name is MaddieRose, but you can make it easy on yourself and call me "Maddie" or "Mads." If you've already read my bio or have heard a bit about me, these are the basics: You're how old? 22 years young. Did you say you're married? Yes, happily married. I'm an Army Wife to my high school sweetheart, Adam. No kids in the picture yet, except our sweet dog-son, Zeus (@thezeusypoo). Wait, where do you live? El Paso, Texas Degree? BA, Journalism & Mass Communication - ASU Walter Cronkite School (2019), Minor in Special Events Management.

What's your background? I'm half Filipino and half German.

Fun Facts: Competed for Miss America at Boardwalk Hall; I dabble in singing; I love cooking and baking.

Everyone Has a Story.

I've only just begun to share more about myself and this crazy adventure we call life. One thing is for sure: everyone has a story to tell. So, let's leave it at that and look forward to many more chats about the beauty of every story. I hope this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

Until next time...

Great start...well written. You wrote that you wanted to open up and connect on a personal level...may I also be a part of that scenario?
